Objective: It highlights the relevance of retrieving information from third party data sources for reuse in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in Brazil.
Methods: exploratory and descriptive research of bibliographic and documentary nature is developed, inspired by the authors Saracevic and Hjørland, to address the notions of relevance applied to the concepts of metadata and research data and in the processes of representation, recovery and reuse of these data, reflects qualitatively about concepts and phenomena and national documents that contemplate results on sustainable development in Brazil and international ones that enable data reuse are analyzed.
Results: It should be noted that the reuse of scientific research data is indicated in the methodology of the subjects presented in the Luz 2020 Report on the 2030 Agenda of the Civil Society Working Group and that the Oliver Wyman Report points out that they are the data sources of third parties, an essential complement to the traditional data collected by the National Statistical Organizations.
Conclusions: Based on the results indicated, there is a need for research data to be registered on data management platforms for reuse and the importance of prior subject knowledge in order to obtain relevant and effective results in the information retrieval to verify results towards the 2030 Agenda.
