Abstract

This paper presents initial reflections as a result of an ongoing research projectand aims to understand how the inclusion of six-year-old children is being implemented in elementary school in a town in southern Brazil, given the demands of the current legislation (LDB - Law No. 9.394 / 1996 and complementary laws: Law No. 11.,114 / 2005 and Law No. 11.,274 / 2006). The research has been developed by studying documents for guidance and legalization for the inclusion of six-year-old children in elementary school; interviewing the technician in pedagogy of the City Education Secretariat ; attending classes and interviewing teachers considered by the Education Secretariat as having as successful experiences, and accompanying the training offered by the education system. It is hoped that this research enable a dialogue that will allow both sides - researcher and education system - to extend the reflection on childhood, literacy, schooling processes and continuing education.
