Agenda-Setting as a tool to combat the erosion of humanity

Abstract

This review analyzes the book A pauta é uma arma de combate: subjetividade, prática reflexiva e posicionamento para superar um jornalismo que desumaniza (2022), by Fabiana Moraes, aiming to understand its theoretical and critical contributions to the field of journalism. The book proposes a reflection on the journalistic agenda as a structuring element of media narratives, defending it as an instrument capable of confronting processes of dehumanization, stigmatization, and the erasure of historically marginalized groups. Throughout the work, the author problematizes traditional conceptions of journalistic objectivity, discusses the impacts of framings that reinforce social inequalities, and proposes a professional practice grounded in reflexivity, intersectionality, and decolonial perspectives.
