Local journalism and citizenship: analysis of media in Iporá (GO)

The research presented in this paper aims to contribute to the discussion about the relation between communication and citizenship by examining how the journalism from Iporá(GO), presents issues about citizens’ rights. For that, it was applied the content analysis method, with statistical analysis and qualitative observations about the sample, formed by contents from a daily radio news (Jornal Rio Claro) and a news website (Oeste Goiano). The results highlight that local media privileges information for citizenship, both for the provision of services and for the critical information that addresses citizens' demands, since it gives voice to the community and its demands, as well as becoming a vehicle for the dissemination of policies local authorities.Downloads
