This article discusses one of the proposed aims of the "Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionaisft forthe teaching of History, related to the formation of a national identity. Firstly it makes a theoretical synthesis aiming at clarifijing what compares this process of identity formation king of phenomenon this is, and the process of its construction. Secondly to other contemporary social processes to evaluate the legitimacy and actuality of that proposition.
