Abstract

In the last forty years, the field of philosophical and historical studies of science has expanded. Part of this evolution has to do with the development of critical epistemologies; for example, the analysis of scientific practices through a feminist perspective. In this article, we emphasize the intellectual production of an important author, Nancy Tuana. The purpose is to demonstrate to the community of feminist scholars the current state of the debate on science and gender, highlighting the merit of a bibliography that revitalized the first feminist discussions in epistemology. Based on some of the character’s most emblematic publications, the text gives a panoramic presentation of her thoughts. And it concludes that the author’s reflections (which mix inherited and renewed analytical perspectives) keep intact the value of feminist criticism for contemporary science.
