In this article, the objective was to analyze the performance of students of a Mathematics course in activities involving the concept of 1st degree inequality with a variable in the different levels of semantic congruence. Theresearch developed had 16 students of an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from a public University of the State of Paraná. For the collection and analysis of the resolutions, were elaborated eight exercises on the concept of first-degree inequality with a variable increasing in increasing order the degree of difficulty based on the three conditions of semantic congruence. The results presented here evidenced difficulties of academics especially in the exercises that the conditions of terminal semantic unicity and semantic correspondence are not satisfied, however, they also presenterrors involving treatment operations, such as multiplication, division, and properties of the concept of inequality. The general results of this study presented a low performance of the students in this research instrument, including students of the final years of graduation.
