Knowledge is constructs that evolve and build the science conceived by the human being, being influenced by its time, its space and the inferences of previous and contemporary thinkers. Faced with this, the guiding question of this article was "What were the contributions of previous and contemporaries for the elaboration of Conceptual Field Theory?". Thus, this article aims to make a chronological reflection on influences that led Gerard Vergnaud to elaborate his Theory of Conceptual Fields. Establish relationships and influences, antecedents and contemporaries, to the culmination with the elaboration of Conceptual Field Theory and its importance for teaching. For that, a history and epistemological search of the influences of Rousseau, Kant and Lévi-Strauss for Piaget and, the influences of this one and of Vygotsky for Vergnaud is realized. In this way, this article is configured as a bibliographical research based on previously published materials. At the end, the connection between these thinkers is established, adding up several centuries from the birth of the first to the present day and a reflection where knowledge occurs in a constructive way collectively, even in very different time and social situations.
