The mediating feature of the law with respect to the development and enlargement of the public space

The present study intends to understand the concept of public place, using for this purpose Hannah Arendt’s work, and the deterioration of the public place in modern era, with the concurrent growing of social place. It gives special emphasis to Law’s role, how it had been and has been understood for classic and contemporary authors in relation to its interpretation and application, as well as the study tries to analyze what are the consequences of the judicial decisions for the construction, extension or limitation of the public place. Finally, it accentuates the importance of the Law and its compromise with justice and democracy, therefore the Law has been called everyday more to give solutions for the conflicts coming from the social and economic inequalities of Brazil.Downloads
