Abstract

this paper outlines a historical over-view of western romanistic tradition, evaluating the meanings attributed to Classical RomanLaw on the different periods in which legalknowledge revitalized it. The article concludesby diagnosing the crisis faced by romanistictradition nowadays, suggesting its historical re-covery as the only way out of it.
