Abstract

Critical review of the book Theory and Practice of Literary Translation organized by Sueli Cavendish and Michelle Valois, seeking to learn simultaneously the double objective that sets the collection: the practice of translation and the need to theorize about it through the characteristic disciplinary character of several studies. Some tests were selected from a total of fourteen forming the Anthology. The review aims to detect multiple ways of thinking about translation and the extension of its concept by the various essayists. The text focuses specifically on the interchangeability of translating concepts, interpretation and criticism and dialogue that Translation Studies have with the Literary Theory, Comparative Literature and other disciplines.

 

Author Biography

Sonia Ramalho Farias, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco - UFPE

Possui graduação em Licenciatura Vernácula pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1970), mestrado em Letras pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1976) e doutorado em Letras pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1988). Atualmente é professora titular em Teoria da Literatura da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Tem experiência na área de Letras, com ênfase em Literatura Brasileira e Teoria da Literatura, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: literatura, José Lins do Rego, Ariano Suassuna, Nordeste, Literatura Brasileira Contemporânea. Em teoria Literária vem se dedicando ao estudo de temas como Mímesis e Ficção, Literatura e Ideologia, Literatura e Sociedade
