In this article, the authors intended to describe their experience in the preparation of a small-size bilingual dictionary destined to the Brazilian public. The text includes useful and varied information: since the agreement entry into with the Publisher, the methodology and criteria adopted, the detailed work of elaborating the entries, letter by letter, with the appropriate linguistic scope in each case, until the editorial graphic project. It also includes some curiosities and incidents that never fail to happen in a comprehensive work. The “Spanish-Portuguese / Portuguese-Spanish Mini Dictionary” of Editora Ática has been contributing, along over 10 years, to clarify doubts of students, travelers and Brazilian educators, as it is focused on elucidating the differences and difficulties posed by Castilian to native speakers of Portuguese. The authors did not intend to teach how to produce a dictionary. In this article, they just wished to tell their experience, for the sake of information, to enable readers to have a notion of the quantity of factors involved in the creation of a work of that type.Downloads
