Abstract

This essay deals with the life and work of the Hungarian born philologist, didactic, lexicologist and translator Paulo Rónai who migrated to Brazil in 1941. Rónai’s career and his almost life-long relation to Brazil are seen as a translational act in which professional and biographical aspects cannot be considered separately: translation and transition into another linguistic and cultural space interlace and depend on each other.
