This study, part of a doctoral research, presents the results of a continued formation in environmental education and math for math teachers, focused on the construction of seven interdisciplinary projects involving environmental issues, developed in the final years of municipal and state elementary schools of São Sebastião do Caí. The projects addressed the theme of water, waste, pollution, wildlife, vegetation, energy, the areas of permanent preservation and were mainly constituted by mathematical games, mathematical problem situations involving environmental issues, field trips, research on the school surroundings, essays, lectures, awareness campaigns and bibliographic research in electronic media. The development of the projects showed that the students developed an environmental awareness of the local environmental issues and influenced the practices of educators in relation to environmental themes, because they worked in their classes with activities that relate everyday situations with formal education.
