Abstract
A cidade de Alexandria inspirou um dos mais instigantes romances da literatura moderna.
Escrito pelo britânico Lawrence Durrel e publicado em quatro volumes (Justine, Baltazar,
Mountolive e Cléa) entre 1957 e 1960, O Quarteto de Alexandria tem como tema a tensa e ambígua teia de relações envolvendo um multifacetado grupo de seus habitantes, no período que vai dos anos 1930 até o final da segunda guerra.
