Dislexia e as vantagens de ser bilíngue: um estudo sobre a neurobiologia da leitura com o uso de RMf

O objetivo do presente estudo foi investigar o desempenho de leitura e a ativação cerebral associada à leitura para disléxicos bilíngues e monolíngues (DDB-DDM), e bilíngues típicos como Controles (C). Os resultados comportamentais mostraram que o DDB superou o DDM em todos os componentes de leitura em português. Nas tarefas aplicadas em inglês, não houve diferença significativa no desempenho do DDB em comparação com C. Os resultados das imagens cerebrais para a tarefa em português mostraram que C apresentou ativação significativa do giro occipitotemporal esquerdo e giro frontal inferior esquerdo durante a leitura de palavras. DDB e DDM, por sua vez, mostraram desativação da região temporoparietal esquerda e nenhuma ativação significativa na região occipitotemporal esquerda ou no giro frontal inferior esquerdo. Para a tarefa FAST LOC, o DDB apresentou hipoatividade na Visual Word Form Area (VWFA) durante a leitura de palavras, tanto em inglês quanto em português. Os resultados fornecem evidências de um possível impacto positivo do bilinguismo no desempenho de leitura dos disléxicos.
