Bassnett-McGuire, S Translation Studies: Revised Edition, London,Routledge, 1991. First Edition 1980.
Abstract
Translation Studies remains the best brief, clear introduction to translation studies. It is an excellent book to recommend to someone who wants to know what Translation Studies is about. It has three chapters covering in breadth but concisely (1) Central Issues, (2) History of Translation Theory, and (3) Specific Problems of Literary Translation. It presents a balanced account of a range of views and is, with its select, annotated bibliography, an excellent guide to further reading. It should, in my opinion, be a set text for any introductory course in translation theory/studies.Downloads
