The liminal world: decolonial gothic in El Mundo de Arriba y el Mundo de Abajo, by Mónica Ojeda

This article analyzes how the Gothic mode can express contemporary decolonial narratives. Through the examination of the short story El mundo de arriba y el mundo de abajo by Mónica Ojeda, it discusses the Gothic in terms of colonial difference and liminal thinking, addressing themes such as identity, syncretism, and the tensions of a culturally hybrid space, characteristic of the Latin American context. The analysis reveals how the Gothic can destabilize identities and discourses, proposing a critical revision of the interactions between the local and the global.
