Abstract

This article is a partial result of an institutional research project, undertaken in the Education Department of PUCRio and financed by CNPq and FAPERJ. It investigates the contribution of Anisio
Teixeira to the institutionalization of postgraduate studies in Brazil by analyzing his role as General Secretary of CAPES from 1951 to 1964. The principal document used is the Information Bulletin of CAPES, seen as a strategy for institutional intervention in the configuration of the graduate studies system, which intended to organize itself as a network, since CAPES’ early years.
