The article discusses the pedagogy of authority as submitted to freedom. Taking Paulo Freire´s work as reference I stress the
relationship between authority and freedom; I support arguments against authoritarian and licentious regimes; I propose that authority is built up by solidarity, continuing
education and capacity to expose conceptual regimes; I put forth some thoughts concerning theoretical references that might help to understand Freire´s findings; and I expose Freirean theory in a special dialogue with those teachers who are in the beginning of their formation process. From the conclusions it is possible to confirm the initial hypothesis: it is through the concept of authority that Freire searches pedagogical, epistemological, ethical and political delimitation; through formative dialogues he transposes capitalist codes teaching solidarity when prestige and cultural domination promote the disempowerment of authority.
