The article, asynthesis ofa monograph, proposes to present the
results ofan investigation conducted about lhe production and publications of SBEM (The Brazilian Society for Mathematical Education), particularly conceming the first stages of Mathematical Education. Based on lhe analysis ofthree articles that deal with this subject, the articJe points to the subjects highlighted by the authors conceming the need to broaden the concept of literacy and the complextty of the process of mathematicalliteracy.
