The educational unit model known as the “School of the Future” was established by the Municipality of Florianópolis through Decree nº. 20,763 of October 7, 2019. The creation of these schools has raised the following questions: Are these schools organized in a different way to address the demands of the contemporary world? How will the “innovative educational project” set out in the municipal decree be developed? Would there be a new organization of school time and space, thus overcoming the traditional model established in the nineteenth century and still adopted by most Brazilian schools? These questions guided the article writing which is part of a documentary and qualitative research study. Its objective is to analyze how the educational unit model “Schools of the Future,” instituted by the Municipality of Florianópolis, fosters the innovative educational practices emergence. To this end, we analyzed municipal educational documents and the Pedagogical Political Projects (PPP) of the four “Schools of the Future,” employing Content Analysis as a methodological approach. Our findings reveal a divergence in educational policies implementation that established the “Schools of the Future,” given that two schools present proposals aligned with these policies, while the other two do not.
