Abstract

In this article, the author examines the production and reception of discourses on feminism in Brazil from the 1970s to the 1990s as they appeared in the pages of Folhetim and Mais, cultural supplements of the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo. In this analysis, the author maps out which ideas about feminism were circulating-and their subsequent transformations-in an attempt to reconstruct both the theoretical routes that the discourses in the supplements were opening up and how these discourses related to larger events in the Brazilian political context.
