What do the Ejiwajegi/Kadiwéu drawings have to teach mathematics education?

Abstract

This text engages with the Amerindian anthropology of Eduardo Viveiros de Castro in connection with the "drawings" Ejiwajegi/Kadiwéu, specifically based on the work of Maria Raquel da Cruz Duran (2020) carried out with indigenous people in Mato Grosso do Sul, along with the work of Darcy Ribeiro (2019) and some autobiographical cross-references. The ontology of Kadiwéu drawings is ever-changing, mobile, confronting our unique ontology, characteristic of Western, modern, capitalist, patriarchal, and exclusionary populations that, at most, flirt with a multicultural perspective. This ontological shift presents significant inversions and the need for an alternative thinking that encompasses a nature also distinct to these peoples and their ontologies. This theoretical essay seeks to problematize possible affinities and divergences between this Perspectivist and Multinaturalist thinking of Viveiros de Castro and other frameworks previously mobilized by us in other works, such as the Model of Semantic Fields by Romulo Lins and the language games and forms of life by Ludwig Wittgenstein.
