This article it was conclude from a broader research of the strategies used by students at an agricultural school to solve contextual math problems. The present work approaches the process of elaboration and resolution of these problems, from the ethnomathematic perspective. The instrument used for data collection was a semi-structured interview conducted with two farmers living in the school community, one dairy and one tobacco producer, and task interviews with six students. The problems were elaborated from the ways of mathematization expressed by these farmers, with real data about the analyzed context. The problem solving process involved calculations with profit margin, approximate and/or estimated calculations, relationships between different units of measure and conversions, as well as the relationship established between the value the farmer receives for production and the price charged in market, enhancing students' reflection on this scenario that the producer faces daily. It was concluded that this work valued the knowledge of the agricultural context, bringing the mathematics produced by this social group closer to school mathematics.
