Strategies for mathematics teaching for deaf students of Elementary School

This article aims to present strategies for teaching mathematical content (percentage and solving arithmetic problems) for deaf elementary school students, using authentic teaching materials, considering a bilingual teaching-learning perspective - Libras and Written Portuguese language (BRASIL, 2002; 2005). Wallon (1879-1995) and Vygotsky (1896-1934) studies were considered, due to the importance of games and compliance of rules for the development of language and cognition as well as for the learner´s psychological, motor, sensorial and affective maturation. The research was based on the Decree 5.626/2005 related to the teaching in a dialogical, functional and instrumental conception and on studies of Morais and Cruz (2016, 2019), who dedicate to the production of teaching materials for deaf learners, using visual resources and Libras as the language of instruction and first language of these apprentices.
