Pool game: a possibility for teaching geometry

This work aims to show that the pool game can be a potential resource for the teaching of Geometry, contemplating the approximation of theory to everyday life. In this sense, the domain of geometric concepts can determine a player's victory. In order to highlight this fact, after introducing basic concepts necessary to understand the pool game, two scenarios involving very common situations during a game are considered, with the indication of which strategies can be used and which geometric concepts that be explored. To illustrate the scenarios, the Geogebra mathematical software is used. As results, this work presents practices that can be explored, implemented and developed by teachers in the teaching of Geometry and it highlights the pool game as a possible resource to be inserted in the school environment, in view of its pedagogical potential.
