The text results from a research that had as its context the alternative system of raising chickens in a Settlement Project (PA) of the Landless Workers Movement (MST) Eduardo Galeano. It aims to contribute to the debate about the didactic-pedagogical dimension, discussing how the social practices and knowledge of rural subjects are important in the construction of multidisciplinary approaches as an alternative for teaching science and mathematics to rural schools. The methodological procedures were based on elements of a qualitative ethnographic research with an exploratory approach to the theme. In order to obtain data, a field survey was carried out, using observations and listening with an open interview script. The study proposes pedagogical reflections to assist teaching practice, makes didactic indications that can contribute to understandings of the organization of school activities in the use of social practices and field knowledge in the teaching of science and mathematics in dialogue with the perspective of rural education.
