The present work is an clippingof a Course Completion Work (CBT), which aimed to analyze a Textbook (LD) of the 2nd year of Teaching Medium as to the knowledge of Sphere, more precisely, as to the volume of the sphere and spherical surface area, in light of Raymond Duval's Theory of Records of Semiotic Representations (TRRS). Thus, this research is characterized as being of an approach qualitative, bibliographic type, was carried out through a descriptive study of exploratory type and applied nature. Considering the importance of LD and that this is the main resource used by teachers in the classroom, we analyzed the approach of the textbook approved in the National Textbook Program PNLD/2021 and more adopted by state schools in the municipality of Cajazeiras - PB. We have identified that LD presents gaps in relation to mathematical objects sphere volume and spherical surface area, because in the proposed questions analyzed, it was prioritized the natural language record of these mathematical objects. With regard to conversions, we point out that the book prioritizes some conversions between records semiotic representations of the volume of the sphere and the area of the spherical surface to the detriment of others. We conclude that in the teaching-learning process of mathematics the teacher should not be limited only to the textbook, because using only this resource does not ensures the understanding of mathematical objects.
