This paper describes the research which took us into a translation of the prologue of Aeschylus’s Eumenides. During this research, we discussed the possibilities of acting ancie Greek plays, starting with an analysis of translations of such texts we had already got in contact with.Based on a study of translation theory, we identified some problems in these translations and began working on the prologue of Aeschylus’s Eumenides, in order to reach a text appropriate for acting. With this aim, we had also to find out a way which could lead us where we aimed. This way showed itself by associating theories of creative translation and specific methods of theatrical creation, which gave us a particular practice of translation that we explain in this paper.Downloads
