Abstract

This paper aims to present and comment on the Portuguese winner translation of the poems “Gli abiti e i corpi” by the Italian poet Giovanni Giudici and “Cnidaria” by the Italian-Swiss poet Laura Acceboni. The translations presented here were carried out in 2024 in the context of the first edition of the International Poetry Translation Prize from Italian to Portuguese M’illumino d’immenso, promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture of Rio de Janeiro and the Laboratorio Traduxit, with sponsorship from Biblioteche di Roma. This competition was created with the aim of promoting the translation and dissemination of Italian poetry in Portuguese-speaking countries and its winner was the Brazilian translator Mariangela Ragassi, who shares some of her impressions on the process of translating these poems.
