STS focus and technology concepts of high school students

Abstract

In this article we analyze the technology concepts presented by high school students during a didactic and pedagogical intervention with STS Focus in a public school in the metropolitan region of Curitiba-PR. The research is classified as a qualitative and interpretive with participant observation. For the treatment of the data, we used the contributions of Análise Textual Discursiva of Moraes and Galiazzi (2007). Analysis of the data indicates that students have different views on what is to be the technology and how it influences and is influenced by the socio-cultural context in which it operates. In addition, there was greater participation of students in class, showing the interest that the subject awakens in students in this type of education.

Silvaney de Oliveira, Universidade Federal do Paraná

Bacharel em Engenharia Química pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1998), licenciado em Química pela Universidade Federal Tecnológica do Paraná (2003) e mestre em Educação em Ciências e em Matemática pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (2015). Atualmente é professor do Quadro Próprio do Magistério do Paraná.

Orliney Maciel Guimarães, Universidade Federal do Paraná

Licenciada em Química pela Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (1988), mestre em Ciências – Química Analítica pela Universidade de São Paulo – Campus Ribeirão Preto-SP (1991) e doutora em Ciências pela Universidade de São Paulo – Campus São Carlos (1997). Atualmente é professora da Universidade Federal do Paraná-UFPR desde 1992, atuando na Licenciatura em Química e no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação em Ciências e Matemática da UFPR. 

Leonir Lorenzetti, Universidade Federal do Paraná

Licenciado em Ciências-Habilitação em Biologia pela Universidade do Contestado – UnC-Concórdia (1989), mestre em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2000) e doutor em Educação Científica e Tecnológica da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2008). Atualmente é professor da Universidade Federal do Paraná-UFPR, atuando nas Licenciaturas de Química e Ciências Biológicas e no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação em Ciências e em Matemática.
