Língua, tradução e diáspora do teatro irlandês em Quebec

Este artigo defende a inclusão de traduções de peças irlandesas em Quebec como parte da diáspora teatral irlandesa. A presença de uma diáspora irlandesa na América do Norte foi principalmente o resultado de ondas imensas de imigração, em grande parte devido à Grande Fome, atingindo o pico em meados do século XIX, antes de diminuir gradualmente. Essa diáspora foi integrada à sociedade de Quebec, sem dúvida facilitada por elementos políticos, religiosos e até linguísticos semelhantes. O interesse na cultura irlandesa, especialmente em sua produção teatral, permanece alto, com muitas companhias de teatro, por exemplo, o Théâtre La Licorne, em Montreal, nas temporadas de comissionamento da província baseadas em dramas da era do Tigre Celta, traduzidos por dramaturgos de Quebec. Ao traçar a razão desse interesse, apesar da diminuição da imigração recente, este artigo fornece a base para a pesquisa contínua sobre a força performativa de traduções proativas em várias tradições diaspóricas.
