Abstract

Somatic Education is a practical and theoretical field made up of different methodsthat work on the body awareness as a path of transforming a person’s mechanical, physiological, neurological and psychological conditions. We present here threeconcepts from which one can identify the field of Somatic Education as well as understandits proposals in a class: the dis-conditionning of movements, the development of somaticauthenticity and the discovery of internal technology. Somatic Education’s practicesand researches are based on self-investigation of one’s own movements; the learning ofnew ways of moving that can prevent lesions and the intentional use of autoregulationmechanisms.
