Abstract

The article is the result of the academic partnership between IELA/UFSC - Institute of Latin American Studies – and Edie Cottle, a South African researcher, author of critical papers concerning the impacts the 2010 FIFA World Cup in the life of that country's population. Employing the methodology used in that research, this study aims to reveal the true costs and possible overbillings the construction of Brazilian arenas that will receive the 2014 World Cup games.
