Filosofia da educação e formação de professores em algumas universidades brasileiras entre os anos 40 e os anos 60

This study points out some significant elements of the historical
process went through by the discipline Philosophy of Education
between 1940 and 1960, as it was taught in the Faculties of
Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of the following Brazilian universities: Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUC/RS). The article stresses the importance of philosophical studies in teachers education
courses, as well as the relationship these studies established with the sciences of education and the different teaching programs. Finally, it describes the characteristics they presented in each institution.
