This article discusses the connections between continuing professional development, Paulo Freire's perspective on critical educational practice, and the responsible subversion of two mathematics professors. Based on two studies conducted in municipal schools in a city in the interior of São Paulo, the text provides insights into the training and self-education of professors in a Continuous Professional Development space with reimagination characteristics. The article presents two excerpts from narratives by mathematics educators working in the final years of elementary school who engage in creative insubordination to promote mathematics and statistics learning based on problematization and critical thinking. The dialogues established with Freirean ideas and the concept of creative insubordination are examined in an analytical-reflective manner that highlights important aspects of the training process in the school and the enhancement of critical educational practices. The analysis of the research and the professors' narratives highlights the importance of collaboration among professors and the initiation of a reflective process regarding teaching methods. These actions were redesigned based on expanding professional knowledge to implement an educational, critical, and creatively insubordinate teaching practice.
