This article is the outcome of a research project that aimed to analyze the main characteristics of Brazilian YouTube channels specialized in transmitting and teaching mathematical content. To achieve the research objective, we elaborated four specific objectives built from a group of questions about the context delimited by the YouTube platform. The theoretical basis used in the study is linked to authors who address the theme of educational technologies. We used netnography as the research methodology in this study, once it deals with relational dynamics on the internet. For this, we listed the five highest number of subscribers in Brazilian YouTube channels specialized in producing school mathematics content. The results of the study show that: the strategies and resources used by YouTubers are similar to those commonly used in face-to-face teaching, strongly guided in expository classes; there is a tendency, at the time of planning and elaborating the video lessons, that they are not too long, ranging from 8 to 14 minutes; in channels with a larger number of subscribers, the number of comments is higher and more distributed among video classes; as for the nature of the comments, there was a strong presence of thanks and questions on the mathematical content presented; and, finally, we observed that the users' interaction with each other in those channels, and between the users and those responsible for the channels was insignificant.
