Precariousness of the service of substitute and temporary professors at the Faculdade de Filosofia Dom Aureliano Matos (FAFIDAM/UECE)

Abstract

The working class has suffered from intense changes in the world of work, caused by the restructuring of the capitalist mode of production. In this sense, reforms are carried out that seek to end labor rights. It is in this context of reduction of stable work that teaching work is included: from entering the career in public higher education through temporary hiring, due to the absence of public competition. Thus, we carried out this research at the Faculdade de Filosofia Dom Aureliano Matos (FAFIDAM/UECE). The investigation starts, from the following questioning: How does the precariousness of the work of substitute and temporary teachers occur at FAFIDAM? Thus, we aim to analyze the process of precarious work of substitute and temporary teachers at FAFIDAM. We used bibliographic based on Anderson (1995), Mancebo (2007), Silva (2009) and others. We also used documental research, analyzing laws, decrees, statutes and resolutions that regulate the current contracted professors of that institution. For the data collection, we carried out a field research and semi-structured interview, with contracted teachers, representative of the direction, representative of the coordination of  course and representative of the SindUECE Union. In this investigation, we identified that contracted teachers earn a salary reduced to half the base salary compared to permanent teachers; the workday is intensified and, therefore, some do not carry out research and extension; progressions and bonuses are excluded from the PCCV.
