In this article we seek evidence of the knowledge revealed by students on a Mathematics Degree course when developing mathematical trail tasks in two different contexts: as students, in the Trends in Mathematics Education discipline, and as teachers in an activity linked to the Institutional Scholarship Program Teaching Initiation (PIBID); that is, while they develop learning from and in teaching. This is qualitative documentary research, supported by the theoretical perspective of Mathematics Teachers’ Specialized Knowledge (MTSK) which, through Content Analysis, evaluated reports from three students. As a main result, it was evidenced that the creation and application of mathematical trail tasks can contribute to the development of specialized and specific knowledge of the practice of mathematics teachers working in basic education.
