Elipse, parábola e hipérbole em uma geometria que não é euclidiana

Neste artigo, apresenta-se uma pesquisa qualitativa realizada com sete estudantes de uma disciplina de Álgebra Linear e Geometria Analítica, a qual teve por objetivo responder à questão: como alunos de um mestrado profissionalizante em ensino de Matemática interpretam e representam elipses, parábolas e hipérboles utilizando a métrica dos catetos? O trabalho foi realizado com duas duplas e um trio, para quem foi proposto resolver uma questão a ser entregue por escrito ao professor pesquisador. A atividade constou como avaliação para a aprendizagem dos estudantes e os resultados comprovaram que todos conseguiram interpretar e representar, corretamente, cônicas na métrica dos catetos, caracterizando-as, assim, numa geometria não euclidiana, a chamada Geometria do Táxi ou Geometria Urbana.
