This paper presents the results of an exploratory study on the perceptions of teachers and students in Mathematics have about the role of the Laboratory Teaching of Mathematics (LEM) in teacher education. Through questionnaires for 4th graders and semi-structured interviews with faculty members, we sought to identify the perceptions inherent in its use. The analysis of the collected data converged results revealed by other research on this topic to reveal the degree of knowledge and opinions of teachers and students about LEM. Based on these results we discuss the need for training activities for the trainer of future mathematics teachers.
