Neste artigo pretende-se analisar a peculiar e inovadora definição de tradução de Walter Benjamin à luz de sua teoria da linguagem desenvolvida no livro Die Aufgabe des Übersetzers e fundamentada nos conceitos ambíguos de in-comunicação da obra de arte, de língua pura e de transcrição. Quer-se apontar não somente os elementos inovadores de seu discurso, mas, também, as fraquezas e incongruências tanto da forma quanto do conteúdo de sua obra.
