About the Journal

Cadernos de Tradução is an international journal dedicated to Translation Studies, founded in 1996 by professors from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The journal publishes original research articles, book reviews, translation reviews, interviews, and translated articles. It is currently affiliated with the Graduate Program in Translation Studies at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (PGET-UFSC) and serves as a recognized forum for scholarly discussion in the field of Translation Studies. The journal is indexed in several national and international databases, ranked A1 in the Qualis/CAPES system, and classified as Q1 in the Scimago Journal & Country Rank. Cadernos de Tradução is also part of the SciELO Brazil Collection.

The journal's main objective is to publish research findings in Translation Studies and to engage with ongoing debates in the field, whose interdisciplinary nature is central. It publishes high-quality articles, reviews, and interviews that make a clear academic contribution to Translation Studies. Submissions are selected based on the following criteria: originality, novelty, clarity, timeliness, and relevance to the field.

Since 2022, Cadernos de Tradução has adopted a continuous publication model, in line with open science principles.

The journal is published exclusively online and operates under an open-access model, with no fees charged for submission or publication.

Cadernos de Tradução accepts submissions in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.

Cadernos de Tradução maintains Q1 and Q2 in the SJR 2025 and joins new subject areas

We are pleased to mark another important milestone in the editorial trajectory of Cadernos de Tradução with the release of the SCImago Journal Rank(SJR) 2025 results.

In the latest evaluation, we have maintained Q1 in Literature and Literary Theory and remain in Q2 in Linguistics and Language. Reflecting concrete changes in the journal’s scope and in the profile of its recent publications, as well as their relevance to current developments in Translation Studies, the journal is now also classified under Cultural Studies (Q2), Gender Studies (Q3), Artificial Intelligence (Q4), and Education (Q4).
