This article discusses the translation of an anthology of short stories of female contemporary Brazilian writers into German by a team of translators (three German and one Brazilian), under the focus of cultural mediation. Based on the concept of context (David Katan, 1999), as a set of underlying information shared by the author and readers of a given cultural field, translation is seen as a process of recontextualization (Juliane House, 2002). Several examples of this process, in both macro-text and micro-text levels of the anthology in question, are discussed here.
