Abstract

To amplify the discussions between sports and television, verifying the importance of this relation in the cultural-educational formation of society is the main goal of this study that analyzed the category values-news by Correia (1997) in interesting and important news. The study was based in researches done in 2001 and 2003 from the content of the news showed in Programa Esporte Espetacular in different times and context. According to the analysis, the interesting and important news presented small modifications in percentage terms, but the value-news concept is important when the importance of the relationships between sport and media in cultural-educational formation is analyzed in areas that look for interdisciplinary approximation.
