Abstract

This research had as its focus of interest “Education of the Body” (education expressed in body practices) in intercultural contexts. The field research in Merur Village was carried out from an ethnographic perspective in the period from May to September of 200. The body practices identified were the Nomination Ritual, Dance and Soccer. During the participatory observation, I perceived that the festivals held by the Salesian Mission among the Bororo were appropriate for them and acquired a polysemic character. Among the multiplicity of meanings, it is important to mention the revitalization of the traditional forms of “fabricating the persona”, the valuing of individual and collective identities and the creation of integration strategies. In this polysemic process, the identities confront one another in a “game” that is established along the “boundaries” between “we” and “they”, creating new possibilities for interaction and education. Key words: education; body; intercultural relations
