Historical Summary
Revista Mundos do Trabalho was created in 2009 by the Working Group "Mundos do Trabalho" of the National History Association (ANPUH-Brasil). This digital publication was designed to fill a gap identified by researchers in the field in relation to a specific publication in Brazil. The journal opened space for articles based on unpublished research in Labour History carried out by both researchers in the process of formation and by recognized specialists. At the end of 2011, it was evaluated by Qualis / CAPES for the first time and received the B2 qualification, as an initial recognition of its editorial quality. In the last evaluation, carried out in 2019, it was elevated to the A3 stratum, due to the growing expressiveness of the journal in the History Area.
In its first decade of existence (2009-2018) the journal published one issue per semester. As of 2019, the continuous publication was adopted, in a single volume per year.
Since the first issue, it has received contributions from European, African, Asian, and Latin American researchers and, over the years, there has been a strong trend towards regional diversification, which is expressed both in the editorial effort to organize thematic dossiers and in the contributions that have arrived from all regions of Brazil. The growing number of qualified contributions in the Spanish language has positioned the journal as an important reference in the field in Latin America. More recently, the first articles in English were offered, favoring dialogue with an even more expressive audience. Its growing visibility is mainly due to the effervescence of current debates in the field of Labour History, the quality and originality of published texts, the seriousness of the blind peer-review process and, also, the good international articulation of the researchers involved in the ANPUH Mundos do Trabalho Workin Group.
The journal has played a fundamental role in the national and international diffusion of recent research and the main ongoing debates in the area. Its wide circulation, guaranteed by online format and free access, turns it into a lever for these debates and a privileged forum for an academic exchange that tends to be increasingly internationalized. For all these reasons, Mundos do Trabalho has consolidated itself as a reference journal, disseminating innovative research, renewing the theoretical and methodological framework of the area, and guiding the historiographic debate.
In 2020, the journal began to be published by the Associação Nacional de História do Trabalho (National Association of Labour History), an entity born from the "Mundos do Trabalho" Working Group of the National History Association (ANPUH-Brazil).
