Abstract

The subject of this article is Horkheimer´s criticism of instrumental rationality and the resulting elements of such a critic, both reference to think an education for sensibility as opposed to the “apathy”, “coldness” and “cruelty” which are, in a great deal, the main features of individual behavior in contemporary society. Following Horkheimer´s path the text analyses the meaning of our society ethical crisis arguing that the moral values that have been constructed along the civilization process are not able anymore to determine individual’s actions. Following Horkheimer´s late philosophy the article proposes that it is possible a relationship between ethics and a education for sensibility which understood as a broad formative process should open possibilities for individual access to moral values experience.
