On the emergency of a youth sociology: contributión to the debate

The aim of this article is to discuss
aspects and issues related to the
Sociology of the Childhood,
particularly the evolution of the
concept of childhood and its
epistemological view. The discussion
is based on a historical retrospective
of disciplines and on relevant studies
on childhood carried out in Social
Sciences. Some of the issues raised
in the present article are the process
of socialization of the child and
how she is institutionalized in
public schools.
